What Materials are used?
Wood
Northwest indigenous hardwoods and some softwoods are used, coveted Pacific Northwest Cedar for premium custom orders or upon request, Douglas Fur is a versatile staple while cottonwood can be used if the piece is highly painted.
A note of caution when acquiring pieces carved from softwoods, yearly maintenance is required for the longevity of the piece and an indoor setting is recommended.
Stone
Columnar Basalt is an igneous rock formation that can be engraved or sculpted in low relief.
Slate, Granite and Sandstone are commonly used and can be asked for specifically upon request no charge if no variation exists.
Marble locally sourced or acquired overseas is highly coveted and typically reserved for custom orders by request.
Steel
Stainless steel is used for sculpting and signs, cut by hand with a plasma cutter and welded together from 16 gauge steel these pieces can be placed outside with minimal degradation.
To further protect the pieces they can be painted or have a sealant applied, if polished a sealant is advised or paint if left rough the natural weathering adds a unique timeless patina.
