With proper care these materials can outlive generations, kept indoors or in a covered area, regularly oiled wood (every 1 to 2 years) retains a healthy luster. Stone can be treated with sealers to protect against the freeze and thaw, metal can be painted or coated to protect against corrosion, yearly maintenance is recommended but not required.
